Special features
Product Description |
STAUF D722 is a highly specialized wall covering and cove base adhesive that is designed specifically for the installation on vertical surfaces. It has a superior green tack with very high shear and tensile strengths. It is very installer- friendly due to its long open time. D722 is non-hazardous, contains no VOC, and is certified as "very low emission" by an independent laboratory. Due to the "green properties", it is eligible for LEED points. |
Pre-Installation Checklist |
A successful installation requires proper preparation of the substrate. Read and understand all applicable guidelines and technical data sheets before installation. Follow industry standards and the covering manufacturer's recommendations for substrate moisture content, design, layout, and application of covering materials. The backing of all covering material must be solid and sound, and free of any anti-adherents. All sub-constructions must meet the specific requirements of the wall covering to be installed. |
Sub Floor Examination |
Prior to installation, the substrates must be checked according to applicable installation guidelines. It must be solid and sound, flat, permanently dry, clean, free of chaps, indentations, and anti-adherents, and resistant to pressure and tension. |
Sub Floor Preparation |
Depending on the type and condition of the substrate, a mechanical treatment (e.g. mechanical brushing, grinding, or sanding) may be required. The intensity of such work must be determined at the site by the installer. Dust, paint, residual adhesives, or other surface contaminants must be removed by suitable means. Cleaning the surface with an industrial vacuum cleaner is recommended. Cracks and gaps must be filled unless they are expansion joints. |
Installation Procedure |
Spread the adhesive with the appropriate notched trowel. Avoid excessive adhesive thickness by passing the trowel evenly through the adhesive at a 45° angle. Observe the appropriate flash time (if applicable). Next, lay the covering into the adhesive, correctly position it and press down firmly. Check the back of the covering to ensure a good adhesive transfer from substrate to covering is achieved. Roll covering approx. 15-30 min. after installation if recommended by the covering manufacturer. Push down raised edges approx. 30-60 min. after installation. |
Storage |
Store and transport protected from freezing. Recommended minimum temperatures are 35°F for transport and 40°F for storage. Do not stir the product if frozen, allow it to thaw completely. |
Limitations |
In case of an accident, injury, spill, or exposure, see SDS for information. Consult the Technical Data Sheet at www.staufusa.com for updated information. |
This adhesive will maintain its integrity and performance even when higher levels of moisture are present. While adhesive can withstand up to 8#/24 hr/1000SF (Calcium Chloride Test) and 85% RH (in-situ probe) of moisture, it does not qualify as a moisture inhibitor. Please see below for recommended sealers if a moisture barrier is required. Not suitable for areas with excessive topical moisture (i.e. melting snow, repeated flooding, pressure washing) or extreme horizontal shear forces; use R-Series adhesives under these circumstances. |
