Product Description
BCS-827 Ultra Premium Adhesive is specifically formulated for the heaviest commercial applications and has been formulated to ensure adhesive performance under the very demanding conditions commonly found in today?s fast paced construction.
This ultra-strong, low VOC adhesive is excellent for woven carpets, those with stiff unitary backings, and attached cushion backings. BCS-827 Ultra Premium Adhesive is THE professional's choice for Double-Glue and pattern matching applications. This formula has an extended working time and superior re-tack engineered to maximize installer efficiency.
BCS-827 Ultra Premium Adhesive can be used for the following carpet backings and floor coverings:
- Direct-Glue: woven polypropylene (ActionBac®, hot melt, etc.) latex unitary, polyurethane foam-backed (Enhancer® I,II,III,IV, BioCel? and Durafoam), rubber backs, woven, axminster, needlepunch, and jute
- Double-Glue: BCS-827 is recommended for double-glue "carpet to pad" applications with specific carpet backings approved by STAUF for this application. This adhesive can also be used to adhere approved double-glue carpet cushions.
- Although this adhesive is formulated for carpet installations, because of its non-taining characteristics, it can be used to install felt backed sheet vinyl. Note: This adhesive is not recommended for vinyl backed (PVC) sheet goods or carpets with
urethane unitary or vinyl (PVC) backings.
Pre-Installation Checklist
A successful installation requires proper preparation of the sub floor. Read and understand all applicable guidelines and technical data sheets before installation. Follow industry standards and flooring manufacturer's recommendations for sub floor moisture content, design, layout and application of flooring materials. All slab constructions must meet the specific requirements of the floor covering to be installed.
Sub Floor Examination
Prior to installation, the sub floor must be checked according to applicable installation guidelines. It must be solid and sound, flat, permanently dry, clean, free of chaps, indentations and anti-adherents, as well as resistant to pressure and tension. Moisture content of all floors must be measured before installation.
Moisture content in concrete sub floors must be below 12#/24hrs/1,000 sq. ft. using the Calcium Chloride Test or less than 90% RH using the in-situ test per ASTM F1869 and F2170. If installing sheet goods the limitations are 85% and 8# respectively.
Sub Floor Preparation
Depending on type and condition of sub floor, a mechanical treatment (e.g. mechanical brushing, grinding or sanding) may be required. Intensity of such work must be determined at the site by the installer. Dust, paint, residual adhesives or other surface contaminants must be removed by suitable means. Cleaning the surface with an industrial vacuum cleaner is recommended. Cracks and gaps must be filled with concrete crack filler unless they are expansion joints. Level when necessary to 3/16 inches within 10 feet. Heated sub floors, gypcrete, wooden sub floors, levelers, patches and light weight concrete must be primed. Fast curing cementitious leveling or patching compounds might reduce the flash and work time of water based products due to absorption.
Installation Procedure
Spread the adhesive with the appropriate notched trowel. Avoid excessive adhesive thickness by passing the trowel evenly through the adhesive at a 45 degree angle. Observe the appropriate flash time (if applicable). Lay the flooring into the adhesive, correctly position it and press down firmly. Be sure to check the back of the flooring to make certain good adhesive transfer from sub floor to flooring is achieved. Roll flooring approx. 15-30 min after installation with a 35# roller for double glue and 75-100# roller for sheet vinyl if recommended by the flooring manufacturer. Push down raised edges approx. 30-60 min after installation.
Store and transport protected from freezing. Recommended minimum temperatures are 35 °F for transport and 40 °F for storage. Do not stir product if frozen, allow to thaw completely.
When using other than STAUF products in conjunction with STAUF primers, sealers, leveling compounds, or adhesives, STAUF denies any and all responsibility for any ensuing problems and/or damages without prior written authorization from STAUF.
In case of accident, injury, spill or exposure, see SDS sheet for information. Consult technical data sheet at for updated information.
This adhesive will maintain its integrity and performance even when higher levels of moisture are present. While adhesive can withstand up to 12#/24 hrs/1,000 SF (Calcium Chloride Test) and 90% RH (in-situ probe) of moisture, it does not qualify as a moisture inhibitor. Please see below for recommended sealers if a moisture barrier is required. Not suitable for areas with excessive topical moisture (i.e. melting snow, repeated flooding, pressure washing) or extreme horizontal shear forces; use R-Series adhesives under these circumstances. If sheet goods are installed, the limitations or 85% and 8# respectively.
