Releasable Roll-on Flooring Adhesive
Special features
Product Description |
STAUF D764 is a highly specialized flooring adhesive that is designed specifically for the installation of smooth backed surfaces requiring only fixation with the possibility of removal and repair of flooring. Due to its spread yield, it is an economical choice for larger commercial flooring installations. Types of flooring that can be installed vary from foamed back commercial carpet tiles to sheet vinyl. It has a superior green tack with very low shear strength so that damaged flooring can be removed and replaced. D764 is non-hazardous, contains no VOC, and is certified as "very low emission" by an independent laboratory. Due to the "green properties", it is eligible for LEED points. |
Pre-Installation Checklist |
A successful installation requires proper preparation of the subfloor. Read and understand all applicable guidelines and technical data sheets before installation. Follow industry standards and flooring manufacturers' recommendations for subfloor moisture content, design, layout, and application of flooring materials. All flooring material's backing must be solid, sound, and free of anti-adherents. All slab constructions must meet the specific requirements of the floor covering to be installed. |
Sub Floor Examination |
Prior to installation, the subfloor must be checked according to applicable installation guidelines. It must be solid and sound, flat, permanently dry, clean, free of chaps, indentations, and anti-adherents, as well as resistant to pressure and tension. The moisture content of all floors must be measured before installation. |
Sub Floor Preparation |
Depending on the type and condition of the subfloor, a mechanical treatment (e.g. mechanical brushing, grinding, or sanding) may be required. The intensity of such work must be determined at the site by the installer. Dust, paint, residual adhesives, or other surface contaminants must be removed by suitable means. Cleaning the surface with an industrial vacuum cleaner is recommended. Cracks and gaps must be filled with concrete crack filler unless they are expansion joints. Level when necessary to 3/16 inches within 10 feet. Heated subfloors, gypcrete, wooden subfloors, levelers, patches, and lightweight concrete must be primed. Fast curing cementitious leveling or patching compounds might reduce the flash and work time of water-based products due to absorption. |
Installation Procedure |
Spread the adhesive with foam or a short nap roller. Avoid excessive adhesive thickness by passing the roller evenly through the adhesive. Observe the appropriate flash time (if applicable). Lay the flooring into the adhesive, correctly position it and press down firmly. Be sure to check the back of the flooring to ensure a good adhesive transfer from the subfloor to flooring is achieved. Roll flooring approx. 15-30 min. after installation with a 75-100# roller. Push down raised edges approx. 30-60 min. after installation. Spread the adhesive using the sausage gun. Apply beads approx. ½'' thick and 3'' apart. There is no flash time, so installation should begin immediately. Lay the flooring into the adhesive, correctly position it and press down firmly. Rolling is neither required nor recommended. Check the boards regularly to ensure good adhesive transfer from the subfloor to the flooring. Bowed boards or boards over low spots should be weighted down until the adhesive cures. |
Storage |
Store and transport protected from freezing. Recommended minimum temperatures are 35°F for transport and 40°F for storage. Do not stir the product if frozen, allow it to thaw completely. |
Limitations |
When using other than STAUF products in conjunction with STAUF primers, sealers, leveling compounds, or adhesives, STAUF denies any and all responsibility for any ensuing problems and/or damages without prior written authorization from STAUF. |
In case of an accident, injury, spill, or exposure, see SDS for information. Consult the Technical Data Sheet at www.staufusa.com for updated information. |
This adhesive will maintain its integrity and performance even when higher levels of moisture are present. While adhesive can withstand up to 8#/24 hr/1000SF (Calcium Chloride Test) and 85% RH (in-situ probe) of moisture, it does not qualify as a moisture inhibitor. Please see below for recommended sealers if a moisture barrier is required. Not suitable for areas with excessive topical moisture (i.e. melting snow, repeated flooding, pressure washing) or extreme horizontal shear forces; use R-Series adhesives under these circumstances. |
Not suitable for rolling loads. Not suitable for heavy commercial applications. |
